How To Buy Gifts On A Registry

When it comes to weddings and baby showers, guests often wonder what kind of gifts to bring to the occasion. In years gone by, we all had to guess what a couple would like or what a newborn would need. Now more and more occasion organisers are opting for a simpler solution for us guests! The Gift Registry! A list of gift items that we guests can can refer to, making shopping and gift-giving easier for many of us.

So if it’s your first time buying something off someone’s registry, what are the things that you should remember? Here are some tips:

Find the correct name on the registry.

Make sure you ask or know the name that the person is registered under. On thankyou’s Find A Registry section, you can simply type in a last name and choose the type of occasion or occasion date in order to  find the registry you are looking for. Whether you are going in-person to a store or an online registry, it is good to have the invitation handy so you can search for the correct names and pull up the right gift registry.

Keep an eye out for gift items on sale.

If you received your invitation weeks before the occasion and you’ve decided on an item in the registry, check out the stores where you can buy the gift from and keep an eye out for sales. This is one of the best things about having a registry on thankyou – guests can buy the items at a store at their leisure and they have a chance to shop around and look for the same items elsewhere. Who knows, you might stumble upon a gift on the registry that’s on sale in your favorite store!

Consider an online contribution gift.

Gift registries on thankyou allow the organisers to list items as cash gifts, so guests can choose to contribute an amount that they wish to give. If you are extremely busy and don’t have the time to shop for a present, this is a great option for you to give something without having to look around in various shops. Just log in to the occasion organiser’s registry and use your credit card to make a cash gift.

Do not forget to remove the item from the registry.

One of the great benefits of having a gift list is that it prevents multiple gifts of the same kind. When you’ve decided what gift to give, remember to remove it from the list in order to prevent other guests from purchasing the same item as yours.

Do not think that you need to spend a lot.

The best thing about gift registries is that there are a bunch of options to choose from. Whether it’s a small or big item, you can be sure that the gift you will choose is something that the couple or the new baby needs! Choose an item that suits your budget and don’t feel pressured to buy a big gift or give cash when you can simply get that spatula. They’d appreciate it! Keep in mind that no gift registry item is unwanted.
